i tried something new this weekend - i took photos for a bar mitzvah.  i'd never done one before and wasn't sure about having to do so many posed, formal shots.  but you know what? it was actually a lot of fun (it helps that the family who hired me was great and that their friends and family were also a lot of fun).  so, yeah, there are a lot of family photos with everyone standing behind the bimah and smiling into the camera, but i also got to shoot a bunch that are more candid. its been fun going through the photos as i proof them and seeing what pop ups.  here are a few that caught my eye as i wade through the photos:
