the kids don't have camp until the last week of june so we're spending the next couple of weeks just hanging out. it's a welcome change of pace and we've been loving lounging in our jammies until 10:30 in the morning and not having to rush out the door to be anywhere.
last week one of my neighbors mentioned a butterfly garden she took her kids to so i figured that would be our activity yesterday. i wasn't expecting much - i'm not a big fan of botanical gardens and walking around looking at plants. but it was a gorgeous day and jack (for once) wasn't yelling and screaming about the indignity of having to walk. we took a shaded path to the exhibit and once there, we learned about caterpillars and chrysalis and butterflies. the actual garden was an enclosed green house with lots of plants and about 600 butterflies. it was really, really cool and we spent about a half an hour in there.
i took my point and shoot camera with me so i didn't have to lug my behemoth. people ask me all the time which point and shoot i recommend and i always tell them the canon powershot. i have the SD900 and have had it about two years; it's a great little camera and i totally recommend it.
